MGLI BRANDS Vogue Philippines
Vogue Finally Has Its Pearl
At the beginning of 2022, Condé Nast announced the launch of Vogue Philippines—the 28th edition of its global fashion authority. Already published in markets including Australia, France, Japan, Mexico, the U.K., and the U.S., Vogue’s expansion into the Philippines marked a significant moment for Southeast Asia.
The edition was launched through a license agreement with MEGA Global Licensing Inc. (MGLI), a Filipino media company with over 30 years of experience in luxury publishing. With its vibrant creative scene and deep cultural roots, the Philippines was a natural next step. Vogue Philippines celebrates the country’s rich heritage and contemporary talent, offering a global platform for its designers, artists, and storytellers. “The Filipino talent has been ready to be received by the world for decades now,” said MGLI Chairman and CEO Archie Carrasco. “The market is finally ready, and the long wait is over.”

Vogue Philippines was launched in September 2022, introducing the edition to a global audience of more than 272 million. It’s editorial vision blended tradition and innovation, local culture and global style, across print, digital, and social platforms.
Vogue Philippines launched with a tribute to the diversity and beauty of the Filipino identity. The cover featured Chloe Magno, a Filipino-American model with roots in Davao, photographed by British-Filipino-Egyptian Sharif Hamza. The 36-page feature traces Chloe’s journey across the country, from the lagoons of Bucas Grande to the marble boulders of Tinipak River, wearing pieces from global couture houses and homegrown designers.
Editor-in-Chief Bea Valdes describes the first edition as a reflection on identity, shaped by place, people, and purpose—all seen through Vogue’s lens: “The maiden issue explores the concept of identity—what it is to be fashioned and shaped by our environment, our landscapes, and by the people we cherish. It speaks of sustainable mindsets, in our own terms.”

Inking a Place in History
Vogue Philippines redefined the global conversation on age, culture, and beauty with its April 2023 issue. The cover star was 106-year-old Apo Whang-Od, the revered Kalinga mambabatok, whose presence marked a historic first across all Vogue editions as the oldest cover star to date.
With this powerful moment, Whang-Od left an indelible mark on history—a living symbol of heritage and timeless beauty. The issue sparked global admiration and prompted a reexamination of beauty’s evolving definition, one grounded in identity, resilience, and cultural memory.
In acknowledgment of the issue’s cultural and international significance, the Philippine House of Representatives passed House Resolution No. 1949, recognizing Vogue Philippines for its groundbreaking work and for elevating Filipino heritage on a world stage.
